In this year's draft, there are a lot of unknown within the top ten pick about which player is the clear cut choice at X position. Who's the top QB? Who's the top offensive lineman? Or Corner? There is only one player who will not fall out of the top 3 picks and that is Jadeveon Clowney. Aside from him, anything is fair game.
With this level of uncertainty among players, we could see a lot of the top 10 teams moving down. Let's take a look at these teams.
Houston Texans, No.1 Pick
The Way to go: Any of the 3 QB
If they trade down: It is because another team has given the Texans an offer they cannot refuse and that team would of course take Clowney with this pick.
What Will End up Happening: Texans will undoubtedly end up taking Clowney. The talent is greater than the need with this kind of athlete.
St. Louis Rams. No.2 Pick
The Way to go: Jake Matthews, OT
If they trade down: It is because the Texans went with a qb, leaving Clowney open to any team willing to give up multiple draft picks. We have seen the Rams pull the trigger on these trades (See Redskins) and it could very well end up being worth it.
What Will End up Happening: There's no way the Texans at this point, will give up on Clowney as the first pick so with that the Rams stand pat and take the top OL to protect Sam Bradford, something he hasn't gotten ever since becoming the face of the franchise. They've only drafted 4 offensive lineman since 2009 so picking up the top tackle will be a must.
Jacksonville Jaguars. No.3 Pick
The Way to Go: QB, time for a new face for the franchise
If they trade down: It is because Clowney and the player of their choice is off the boards somehow. With the 3rd pick, a team can look to move into this pick and pick one of the top offensive tackles or get Khalil Mack to anchor their defense.
What Will End up Happening: With Clowney going to the Texans and the Rams standing pat with a WR, the Jags get their QB
Cleveland Browns. No.4 Pick
The Way to Go: WR, Sammy Watkins
If they trade down: It is because a QB needy team has offered for this pick and their player fell to this spot. If the Jags take Manziel and let's say the Vikings really really want Bridgewater and they do not want the Raiders to grab him, it can happen. If the Browns move down to let's say the Vikings or Bills at 8,9, they can still grab a top tier player
What Will End UP Happening: DE, OT, QB is likely the picks respectively in the top 3. The Browns will be happy picking the top WR away and pairing him with Josh Gordon.
Oakland Raiders. No.5 Pick
The Way to go: OT
If they trade down: It is because they are comfortable picking a guy like Derek Carr or Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2nd Round and going with one of those offensive lineman in the middle of the first round.
What Will End up Happening: The Raiders can't hold back, and they choose the best QB available. He'll likely sit a year, which won't be a problem at all with Matt Schuab coming into town(at least this would be the plan).
Atlanta Falcons. No.6 Pick
The Way to go: OT
If they trade down: It is because teams like the Bills (9th) or Titans (11th) want to move ahead of the Vikings to grab Teddy Bridgewater. It seems very likely that the Vikings are going to pick up a QB in this year's draft and it could be with the No.8 pick. The Bills are not sure about last year's first rounder nor are the Titans about Jake Locker and they could be looking to move on.
The other possibility is a team jumping up to grab Khalil Mack because he fell to this pick.
What Will End up Happening: The Falcons shock the world by taking top pass rushing specialist Anthony Barr (Much like the 49ers did when they picked Aldon Smith)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No.7 Pick
The Way to Go: WR
If they trade down: It is because their number one goal is to pick up an offensive weapon and like a guy like Brandin Cooks or Odell Beckham better for the slot and do so by also picking up more draft picks.
What Will End up Happening: New Head Coach lovie smith is planning on winning right away and they do so by picking up the scoring slack by taking the next best WR available in Mike Evans.
Minnesota Vikings. No.8 Pick
The Way to Go: WR/LB
If they trade down: It is because Khalil Mack, Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel are all gone at this point. Vikings move down to pick up more draft picks and are probably content with Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2nd.
What Will End UP Happening: Vikings can't resist and they pick up their QB, which at this point is looking more and more like Blake Bortles.
Buffalo Bills. No.9 Pick.
The Way to Go: OT
If they trade down: It is because none of the players they hope would drop to them (QB, Khalil Mack, Mike Evans or any of the top OLs, which is very unlikely)
What will end up happening: They get one of the TOP Oline prospect and protect what it looks like their future now in EJ Manuel.
Detriot Lions. No.10 Pick
The Way to Go: DB
If they trade down: It is because they are looking to acquire draft picks to potentially draft twice in the first round by picking up a safety first then a corner (look for a Calvin Pryor in the mid teens and a guy like Kyle Fuller in the late 1st round)
