2014 Post Draft Predictions: AFC Edition
AFC East Winner: New
England Patriots
Ryan Tannehill, Geno Smith (Mike Vick?), and EJ Manuel. Do
any of those names scare you? Probably not. Which means the Patriots will once
again win this division. Not much to be said here.
AFC East Loser: New
York Jets
I just feel that the Bills and Dolphins have much better
teams than the Jets. Much like the QB controversy the Vikings had last year,
the Jets might have this year. The Vikings picked top 10 last year. The Jets might
even do worse.
AFC South Winner: Indianapolis
Colts
Once again, this division is going to be won because of QB
play. Of the four teams, the Colts have the best QB and it will carry them much
farther. They do, however, need their running backs to step up their game this
season, otherwise we’ll be seeing Andrew Luck throw for close to 5000 yards.
AFC South Loser: Jacksonville Jaguars
I’m just not convinced Blake Bortles will be Andrew Luck or
Andy Dalton and take his team to the playoffs his first year. My guess is he will struggle more times than
not. The RB position will be a question mark, no Justin Blackmon and even more
rookies to start. Could be a very long year.
AFC North Winner: Pittsburgh
Steelers
What we saw from the Steelers towards the end of last season
is what we should have seen the entire season. They played extremely well on
offensive, especially with the rise of Le’Veon Bell. Their defense should be
much better this year and I feel like this team should pull through with the
leadership of Big Ben and claim another North title.
AFC North Loser: Cleveland
Browns
I almost want to put the Bengals here. But once again, you
can’t win a division if you don’t have a QB. A QB that isn’t in a competition
to be the starter, that is. Both Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel will be
battling for it. While they are gonna go do that this season, the rest of the
team will own the division.
AFC West Winner: Kansas
City Chiefs
I’m not convinced the Broncos, with the addition of all
their acquisitions this offseason, will be as good as they were last year. Sometimes
things just don’t mesh as well when you throw in a bunch of things into the
mixer, and that’s what I feel the Broncos did. The Chiefs, on the other hand,
are returning almost all of their players.
AFC West Loser: Oakland
Raiders
They are getting closer this year but will continue to
struggle. Khalil Mack will be a nice piece to build around but they likely will
need to be patient and wait for at least 2 more drafts. The future looks
bright, only if Mack and Derek Carr develop like they should. This should be a
fun division to watch.
AFC MVP: Andrew Luck
AFC LVP: Matt Schuab
AFC Best Team: New England Patriots
AFC Worst Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
